Literature Text

What am I,
Sitting in here waiting to ruin something,
Applauded by your slow decay.
You stop at mirrors, you second guess,
You covet, claim, and curse.
There slowly dims a light in you
Where dreams once could be sown.
Every sting of hate,
Each pang of jealousy,
All the things you wish you did not have to love…
While they pool in your throat, your mind,
Your lungs…
I am waiting; waiting for my entrance.
I will destroy you by making you speak,
Sharply revealing your naïve youth.
How otherworldly you have been,
With your lack of weight…
Your prudish nausea born of verdigris envy
So strong it pales and screams.
And both you and he will be blind,
Him to what you mean
And you to what you want.
...
too much to comprehend
